Redefining PCY Expo’s Digital Experience for International Markets

Background :
The genesis of this project lies in the observation of Mark, PCY Expo's freelance marketing expert, who recognized the critical need for a digital facelift. The existing website lacked not only a cohesive brand identity but also suffered from significant responsiveness issues. Tasked with the mission to revamp the landing page, I embarked on a journey to transform PCY Expo's online presence.
First Impressions :
Upon reviewing the existing landing pages, it became evident that a complete overhaul was necessary. The lack of branding, UI guidelines, and subpar development spoke volumes about the urgent need for change. With the primary target audience being the western market, the challenge was to create a landing page that exuded professionalism and appealed to users in the US and Europe.

Ideation and Iterative Wireframes :
The initial step involved gathering existing content and delineating the structure of the landing page. A meticulous approach to wireframing allowed for iterative improvements. Strategic changes, such as converting the Hero Section CTA to an email input for a 3D expo preview, and integrating social proof through partner logos and testimonials, aimed to get the audience's attention.

UI Branding :
Collaborating closely with Mark, the UI branding phase was a meticulous process of selecting colors that balanced accessibility and client preferences. Raleway for headings and Lusitana for subtitles and paragraphs were chosen, creating a good visual identity. Educating the client on the importance of contrast ratios was pivotal in achieving a design that was both aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly.

Final Corrections :
Refinements in the final design, such as a primary color hero section and a dedicated PCY Stats section, added a layer of aesthetic appeal. The sign-up and sign-in pages were crafted for seamless user interactions across various devices, ensuring a consistent experience.
Implementation :
Despite diligent efforts, the collaboration hit a stumbling block during the implementation phase. The Client and the developers deviated significantly from the proposed designs, leaving both me and Mark disappointed. This underscores the importance of effective communication and collaboration between designer and the Client & developers.
Learnings :
This inaugural freelance design project provided a wealth of learning experiences. Collaboration brought a dynamic aspect to the process, but the challenge of educating clients on design principles was a significant hurdle. The exposure to diverse UX styles from China, South Korea, and Japan enriched my understanding of global design perspectives.
